As Digital Art Director at Rolling Stone, I led the design of the publication's first responsive mobile experience — directing a team of two designers on a project that required modernizing one of the most recognizable visual identities in American media without losing what made it iconic.
The challenge was adapting a legacy print publication for a new audience while preserving what made Rolling Stone's visual identity so distinct. Every decision had to balance that heritage with the demands of long-form content, a new mobile-based platform, and emerging storytelling tools such as video.
The result was a 300%+ increase in traffic — proof that respecting a brand's story and evolving it are not mutually exclusive.
